An eyebrow lift, also known as a brow lift or forehead lift, is designed to elevate a low or heavy brow, smooth forehead lines and reduce the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows. As we age, the brow may gradually descend, creating a tired, heavy or concerned appearance, even when we feel well rested.

At Emendo Surgical Group, our consultant plastic surgeons tailor every brow lift to the individual. Whether performed as a standalone procedure or alongside eyelid surgery or a facelift, our aim is to achieve a refreshed appearance while maintaining your natural facial expressions.

For some patients, a brow lift improves the position of the eyebrows and opens the upper eye area. For others, it restores balance between the forehead, brows and eyes while softening visible signs of ageing. During your consultation, your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate approach based on your anatomy and treatment goals.

Aesthetic Benefits of Brow Lift Surgery

A brow lift can create a more refreshed and approachable appearance by repositioning the eyebrows and reducing the visible effects of ageing across the upper face. Every procedure is carefully tailored to complement your natural facial proportions.

Patients may consider brow lift surgery to address concerns such as:

  • A low or heavy eyebrows

  • Hooding of the upper eyelids caused by brow descent

  • Deep forehead lines

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

  • A tired or concerned appearance

  • one eyebrow higher than the other

  • Loss of upper facial definition with age

Each procedure is planned to achieve natural-looking results while preserving facial expression.

Functional Benefits of Brow Lift Surgery

Although brow lift surgery is often performed for aesthetic reasons, it can also provide functional benefits for some patients.

These may include:

  • Reducing the feeling of heaviness across the forehead

  • Improving the position of low brows that contribute to upper eyelid hooding

  • Improving the upper visual field where brow descent affects vision

  • Reducing forehead strain caused by constantly raising the eyebrows to see more clearly

  • Improving comfort and confidence in everyday life

Your surgeon will assess whether your concerns are primarily aesthetic, functional or a combination of both.

Your Brow Lift Journey: What to Expect

01 - Get in Touch

Contact our team to discuss your concerns and arrange a consultation with one of our consultant plastic surgeons.

02 - Consultation

Your surgeon will assess the treatment area, identify suitable donor sites and discuss the degree of volume or contour change that may be achievable.

03 - Surgery Day

Fat is removed from a donor area using liposuction, carefully processed and transferred into the chosen area in small amounts.

04 - Recovery

Swelling, bruising and temporary numbness around the forehead are common during the first two weeks. These gradually improve as healing progresses.

05 - Return to Activities

Most patients return to desk-based work within 10–14 days. Strenuous activity should be avoided until advised by your surgeon.

06 - Final Results

As swelling settles, the brow position becomes more defined and the upper face appears naturally refreshed. Final results typically develop over 3–6 months.

Brow Lift Techniques

There is no single approach to brow lift surgery. The most appropriate technique depends on factors such as your brow position, forehead anatomy, hairline and the changes you would like to achieve. During your consultation, your consultant plastic surgeon will recommend the technique best suited to your individual needs.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscopic brow lift is performed through several small incisions hidden within the hairline. Using specialised instruments, the brows can be repositioned while minimising visible scarring. This technique is often suitable for patients with mild to moderate brow descent.

Coronal Brow Lift

A coronal brow lift involves an incision placed behind the hairline, allowing more extensive repositioning of the forehead and brows. It may be recommended for selected patients with more significant brow descent.

Temporal Brow Lift

A temporal, or lateral, brow lift focuses on lifting the outer portion of the eyebrows. It may be considered where heaviness affects the outer brow or contributes to hooding of the upper eyelids. In some cases, it may be performed alongside other facial rejuvenation procedures.

Direct Brow Lift

A direct brow lift involves an incision just above the eyebrow and may be considered when precise correction is required, such as improving brow asymmetry or significant brow drooping. This technique is often reserved for carefully selected patients.
