Inverted Nipple Correction

Nipple correction is a minor surgery that reshapes and repositions flat or inverted nipples:

  • It restores the shape of a nipple,

  • It can improve symmetry between the nipples,

  • It is an effective addition to other breast corrective procedures, including the creation of a nipple, where one is absent.

Inverted nipple correction surgery is suitable for both men and women, though it can affect breastfeeding in women. During the procedure, milk ducts and surrounding tissue around the nipple are either stretched or cut depending on individual needs. This releases the nipple and allows it to protrude naturally. A splint may be applied for a week to encourage protrusion.

The procedure takes 30-60 minutes and you should be able to walk out the same day. Downtime for inverted nipple correction is about 1 week after which you can return to work. You should refrain from strenuous physical activity for 4-6 weeks. The final outcome depends on the individual’s degree of inversion and the technique used.
